Xplore unveils the CV X5 at the October NEC Show

Xplore has unveiled a new addition to its campervan range at the Motorhome and Caravan Show, in the form of the CV X5.

Coming on the Fiat Ducato, a base vehicle which is one of the best vans for converting to a camper, the two-berth ‘van has a raised rear bed which offers the flexibility of either being left in place or stowed away. The choice will influence how the rear garage space is reached – with the bed stowed, it can be accessed within the ‘van, while having the bed in position will mean the garage can still be reached via the barn doors.

The central kitchen comes with an oven and grill, an 87-litre fridge freezer, a three-burner gas hob and a sink with a mixer tap.

The ‘van on display at the NEC has an OTR price of £73,705, due to options such as a solar panel, a roll-out awning and two bike racks. Its standard OTR price is £70,689. The CV X5 has an exterior length of 5.99m, a width of 2.50m and an MTPLM of 3500kg.

Production vehicles will have an increase in height to allow for two bikes to be stored upright with their front wheels removed. It is possible there will be a new internal door to access the battery. But the foldaway table storage cupboard is likely to remain, although there is no need for it inside the’ van. It can still easily be used outside.

It was joined on the Xplore stand by the CV X8, a four-berth ‘van which was originally unveiled as a prototype at the NEC last year. Here, two parallel settees at the rear of the ‘van can be made into two single beds or a double, while the ‘van also comes with a pop-top roof which houses a double bed.

Like the CV X5, it has a shipping length of 5.99m. It also has an MTPLM of 3500kg, a MiRO of 3101kg, and a payload of 325kg.

Other brands to release new campervans at the NEC include Bailey, which launched its new Endeavour B63 and B65 models. Coachman also debuted its new Duro ‘van, a 4×4 model which comes on a Mercedes Sprinter.
