Want to stay warmer in your ’van this winter? I’ve tracked down the best Black Friday products you need to buy
We’ve all been there – away in the motorhome during the colder months, only to find yourself uncomfortably chilly, or damp when you return from a winter walk. The latest motorhome heating systems are fantastic, of course, but sometimes it’s tricky to get yourself warm again.
There’s so much to be said for winter touring – popular places to visit will be quieter, and touring parks won’t be as busy – that you won’t want to miss out. But how can you keep yourself warmer in your ‘van?
One easy way is to arm yourself with some great bits of kit – and there are plenty available on Black Friday. I’ve been searching for some great deals over the past few days, all of which should help make winter touring that bit more comfortable – here’s what’s in my basket. Don’t miss our pick of the best Black Friday motorhome accessory deals either.

Mia&Coco Electric Heated Blanket was £44.99 now £36.33
I love a heated blanket – they’re so good at warming you up fast, and are a much more efficient way of staying warm in your motorhome than simply heating the space around you. This example, which is on sale at Amazon this Black Friday, is a good price and looks to be of decent quality. There are 10 different temperature settings, which should allow you to find the perfect one, and auto shut-off is a good safety feature. It has a pre-heat function for colder days, and it’s machine washable for extra practicality.
Silentnight Hotel Collection 13.5 Tog Duvet Double was £40 now £26.65
Many motorhomers use sleeping bags in their ’van, but I’ve always been a fan of a traditional duvet. The colder months require a higher tog duvet, though, and this Black Friday I’ve spotted what looks like a good deal from Argos.
This 13.5 Tog duvet is from well-known and respected brand Silentnight, it’s filled with hollowfibre polyester and has a microfibre exterior. It’s non-allergenic and comes with a five-year guarantee. Handily, it can be machine washed when you return home, too.
Dimplex OFRB7N 0.7kW Mini Oil Free Radiator was £75 now £50
The Dimplex mini oil free radiator may be small, at just 45 x 30cm, but it should provide a steady, reliable heat source in your motorhome. It’s pretty basic, but has a variable thermostat dial to allow you to control the heat output. It’s freestanding (so no DIY is required), has frost-protection and a safety cut-out switch, too. It comes with a three-year warranty from the manufacturer for added peace of mind. Best of all, its heat output is just 700W, so it should be suitable for use on electric hook-up.
Electric foot warmer was £29.99 now £21.04 (save 30%)
Like the heated blanket above, this electric foot warmer is another great way to heat yourself rather than all of the air around you. I reckon it would be ideal for keeping in the ‘van ready for those occasions when your feet simply won’t warm up – and with it requiring just 100W of power, it’s usable on electric hook-up, too.
Three different temperature settings are available, and the interior lining is removable and machine washable, which is a very handy feature. It’s suitable for those with a UK shoe size of up to 11.5.
Heated gilet (price dependent on size)
If you enjoy outdoor pursuits using your motorhome as a base, this clever product is sure to appeal. It’s a smart gilet that comes complete with built-in heating elements, to keep you warm and comfortable no matter what the temperature outside.
It features four heating zones (which can be turned on and off independently) and three different operating temperatures, so you can quickly find the right level for you. Power is via a 10,000mAh rechargeable battery that sits inside a pocket, and the jacket is available in four sizes.
Rechargeable Hand Warmers was £14.99 now £9.99
Hands get cold quickly during the winter, particularly if you’re on a walk – which is why I think these portable warmers look like a great product. There are two in the pack, and they’re currently available with a good Black Friday discount.
They’re straightforward to use – simply recharge the two 5000 mAh batteries for six to nine hours’ warmth. Three different temperature settings are available, and the warmers themselves are made of fireproof ABS material for safety. A a 2-in-1 Type-C charging cable is also included in the box.
