Newly opened Loch Ness Centre to allow motorhomers to get closer to Nessie
Anyone thinking of heading to a motorhome site in Scotland this summer will be able to get closer to Nessie than ever before, following the opening of The Loch Ness Centre.
The newly opened Centre will allow motorhomers and other visitors to the Highlands to find out about one of Scotland’s most famous legends.
Following a £1.5m investment, The Centre has been opened in the old Drumnadrochit Hotel, a site immersed in Nessie history as it’s where Aldie Mackay, the hotel manageress, said she had spotted a ‘water beast’ 90 years ago.
The one-hour experience will take visitors through eight immersive rooms, in the process finding out about the sightings and hoaxes associated with the legendary monster. Guests can discover the scientific methods and artefacts used to look into the Loch itself too, including underwater cameras and a miniature submarine.
Finding definitive proof of the famous monster will also net you £25,000 from Dave Fishwick (aka, the Bank of Dave), who offered the prize when he was live on ITV’s This Morning for the opening of the Centre.
Juliana Delaney, Chief Executive of Continuum, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Dave shares our enthusiasm and passion around this global phenomenon. As we look to open our doors, guests will have the opportunity to learn about the legend, and then get to search the famous Loch themselves, armed with further knowledge. We wish everyone luck in their search, we know we will be watching the iconic Loch ourselves. As the Loch Ness Centre says ‘Keep Looking’.”
Adult tickets start from £13.95 and can be purchased online.
