Calais motorhome stop over (Aires de camping-car)

If you’re travelling in your motorhome from the UK to Europe or indeed on the return route back to the UK, then a stopover close to the port is always welcome.

Calais Rue d’Asfeld is a well presented and relatively new stopover that provides a clean, dedicated and well serviced place to stop over in Calais for the night. At a cost of 10€ you may consider it on the expensive side if you’ve been using aires in other parts of France. However in context of parking charges in the UK then it offers reasonable value.

There are two parts to this site, one is an actual camp site with a shower block and toilets and the other section is a motorhome stopover with hard standing areas. The entrance has a barrier system. You enter your registration number into the machine, make the payment and a ticket is issued which has a code for the barrier. Enter the code and the barrier lifts and in you go.

For an additional small fee we were able to access the campsites shower and toilet facilities which again were clean and modern. The owners / managers of the site live on site in the building above reception. They were exceptionally friendly and helpful when we arrived.

The ferry port is only a 12 minute drive away so this is perfectly placed if you are catching an early morning ferry.

We felt safe on our stopover and would definitely use this again.
