Bailey profits increase by over a third
Bailey of Bristol saw its full year profits go up by over a third to £4.3m last year, while turnover also increased by 16% to £150.8m.
Prima Leisure, its 100% owned accessories subsidiary, also brought in a profit after tax of £300,000 – its highest profit since incorporation.
Bailey, a manufacturer which also appears in our best motorhome brands guide, says the number of motorhome registrations grew slightly last year, with Bailey’s share of the market also growing as it increased its production levels.
The launch of its new Endeavour campervan range, which includes the Bailey Endeavour B62, at the NEC show in October, with production starting early this year on a new production line, and its first narrow bodied coachbuilt Adamo models, means it now has a more “balanced” portfolio.
Stocks on dealer forecourts also returned to more normal levels in 2023, following the pandemic.
The business has also embarked on an efficiency drive, and is pressing ahead with its plan to reach net zero by 2050. The solar panels at its Clevedon site were commissioned in early 2023, and there are now times when the site is fully self-sufficient in terms of its energy requirements.
Profits and turnover were also up at Keenwork, Bailey’s holding company. The company, whose main asset is Bailey Caravans, saw pre-tax profits jump by 52% to £6.2m, while turnover increased by 15% to £155.6m.
As a result, the group has managed to repay a £3m recovery loan it drew down at the start of 2022 early.
The news has come at a time when Adria has announced it is launching its first ever VW ‘van and is also relaunching Sun Living.
