The best motorhome sat nav should take the stress out of your drive, and that’s exactly what the Garmin Camper 1095 did when Practical Motorhome’s editor, Sarah, put it to the test.

You may be wondering, do you need a special sat nav for a motorhome? Well, one of the big advantages of owning one is that it can provide custom routing, ensuring your ‘van’s dimensions and weight are taken into account. This means you shouldn’t find yourself facing obstacles such as a low bridge or a narrow road, which can add unnecessary stress to a journey.
This was something Sarah was impressed by when she tested the Camper 1095 – she was driving a 7.5m-long motorhome, and for the entire journey, it was taken on a suitable route. That’s not all that stood out either – the ease of use impressed, as did the inbuilt system, which offers warnings about sharp curves or gradients, with information clearly displayed on the sat nav’s 10-inch screen.
Another particularly useful features it offers is Birdseye Satellite Imagery – this gives you an aerial image as you arrive at your campsite, which especially impressed Sarah for how it allows you to visualise and work out your arrival.
Other handy functions include a detailed list of campsites and stopover points (these come from ACSI, Campercontact and Trailer’s Park), as well as low-emission zone routing, and, for those who like touring abroad, European mapping.
You can even set up the Garmin voice assist setting and pair it with a compatible smartphone for hands-free calling. It’s not surprising that the whole three-model Camper range was shortlisted for the best motorhome gadget at the Practical Motorhome Awards 2025.
