The Coach and Horses, Llangynidr motorhome stop over
Our next stop for the night on our road trip to Cornwall led us to The Coach and Horses. This pub is located on Cwm Crawnon Road in Llangynidr, South Wales.
About the Site
This isn’t actually a site but a pub stop over. This 16th century inn is next to the Brecon Monmouth canal. We pulled into the hardstanding car park, which is on the opposite side of the pub and parked the motorhomes. I went in and spoke to the friendly staff and I asked if they would mind us staying overnight in their car park? They kindly said yes.
Pitches
The car park is located across the road from the pub. next to the canal. It’s a hardstanding car park without any markings. The staff had asked us to park at the rear of the car park so we were out of the way.
Facilities
There aren’t any facilities, other than the toilet if you’re using the bar. However we had everything we needed on board so that wasn’t an issue.
As well as the canal nearby attractions include Talybont Reservoir, famous for its water-based sport activities, and Tretower Court & Castle Historic House.
Price
Again this stop over was free! However, as always, we did spend money in the pub on drinks and a meal.
Motorhome Monkey thoughts
The Coach & Horses Inn had original historical character and charm, complete with old beams, oak panelling and flagstone floors. It was a restaurant style pub and was really popular and busy for food.
We ordered some drinks and perused the menu. I chose smoked salmon, dill and asparagus tagliatelle and I have to say it was the most delicious tagliatelle I have tasted anywhere. Priced at £13.95 I thought it was good value. In fact whilst enjoying it I actually said, I’d drive there again just to have the same meal!
The staff were accommodating and we had a good sleep before leaving the next morning.
