Pentewan Sands Holiday Park in beautiful Cornwall
Pentewan Sands Holiday park, situated in Pentewan, St Austell, Cornwall is a holiday park situated on its’ own private beach. It was the next step on our motorhome holiday road trip of Cornwall.
About the Site
The site has a grassed based touring park suitable for motorhomes, caravans and tents as well as holiday homes for rental.
We arrived without booking (as always). When you approach the site you feel like you are entering a holiday destination. The reception were really friendly and welcoming who chatted with us before we chose our pitch. The first pitch we chose was in a great position close to the sand, but one of the group wanted to be closer to the toilets and other amenities so we asked if we could change and they were more than helpful at the reception in changing our pitch.
Pitches
The pitches were grass and a good size with plenty of space between the motorhomes. Each pitch had access to electric hook up and water points interspersed close by. The pitches were fairly level. I rarely use levelling ramps, preferring instead to manouvre the motorhome on the pitch to find the best level possible. This is partly due to only bringing one ramp with me oops! Wherever you are you aren’t too far from the facilities.
Facilities
This place has everything you could wish for so let’s start at the fundamentals. The toilet and showering facilities were good and cleaned regularly. There is a decent dish washing area and a coin operated launderette.
There are general waste and recycling waste points. There is a chemical toilet disposal point and the motorhome grey water waste has it’s own dedicated drive over area.
Now to the good bits…
The Beach
This site has it’s own private and when I say a beach, I don’t mean a little piece of shore marketed as a beach! This is the real thing.
You don’t have to walk a mile to the beach either, it is literally right there at the campsite. The beach has lovely sand and is sandwiched between two headlands creating a sheltered bay. This makes it ideal for water sports, splashing about in the water and the other things that you’d like to do in the sun, on a beach. I walked the length of the beach in the evening and the morning and although the sun was shining in mid may it wasn’t warm enough to sunbathe.
You can enjoy a number of water sports activities including Kayaking, Surfing, Sailing, Water Skiing, Windsurfing and the new craze of Paddleboarding, with facilities on the beach to hire at what appeared to be reasonable rates. Of course you could just sit back, relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the beach and the sea.
This holiday park has everything you could want, a great location, water sports, swimming pools, cafe and bars and an amazing private beach.
Amenities
The beach isn’t the only reason that makes this a great place. There’s indoor swimming pools, tennis courts, an amusement arcade and play areas. There’s also a large well stocked shop, stocking a wide range of items.
If food is your thing then they have that covered too. There’s the “Sea Horse” bar that serves meals and drink and also has entertainment of an evening. There’s also an upstairs outside seating area that provides great views.
There is also a beachside bar that serves food called “The Hub Box”. Again this has outside seating and is a lovely setting for a burger, fries, a hotdog or a drink as you look out onto the beach and the ocean.
Finally there’s a fish and chip takeaway, perfect if you want to eat at your motorhome but don’t feel like cooking!
Price
The cost for the pitch, electric hook up and fresh water on the pitch was £24 which was exceptional value for money taking into account the beach and all the other facilities. This also included access to the indoor swimming pool. When you think you can be asked to pay as much for a pitch in the middle of a field with no facilities!

This site provides excellent value for money offering a true holiday break. The beach, the ocean, the water sports, the bars, the take away this place has it all. The staff were helpful and friendly. I will definitely return here again
