Motorhomers warned to urgently check their gas hob

Motorhomers have been warned to check their gas hob after certain models were found to be fitted with a connector that is at risk of failing, potentially leading to a gas leak or fire.

An investigation by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) found some gas hobs could fail in certain circumstances, regardless of whether it is in use or not.

The issue is affecting models from the following brands:

Apelson
Belling / Stoves
Caple
Comfee
Cookology
Electriq
KitchenPlus
Russell Hobbs
Statesman

Now, motorhomers are being told to check the model number of their gas hob as soon as possible, which can be located in either the instruction manual or on the rating label beneath the hob.

Anyone with an affected appliance with Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been told to immediately disconnect it from the LPG cylinder. The OPSS has then said to contact them with your model number on 0800 208 1058 to arrange a free inspection and repair from a Gas Safe registered engineer.

If you’re unsure of your gas hob’s model number, the OPSS has also advised contacting them straight away on the same phone number.
