Linwater Caravan Park adds solar field and updates facilities

The family-run Linwater Caravan Park near Edinburgh has spent £360,000 over the past 12 months as it works to improve its facilities and create an “environmentally responsible” touring experience.

As motorhomers prepare for the start of the new season, many will be looking for the best motorhome sites and planning their tours, with facilities often a key consideration.

In the case of the 60-pitch Linwater Caravan Park, a site which appears in our best motorhome sites in Scotland guide, a solar field has been added to provide eco-friendly power for the campsite. The project came to £110,000, with £80,000 secured thanks to the Business Energy Scotland SME Grant. Since completion, the site has generated a third of its power, reducing its carbon footprint in the process.

As well as this, the campsite has upgraded its toilet and shower facilities, investing £250,000 to ensure guests can now enjoy larger shower cubicles, a family bathroom and an accessible washroom.

Katie Guinan, Owner & Park Manager at Linwater Caravan Park said: “The solar field installation is just one of the many steps the park is taking to reduce its impact on the environment and provide guests with a holiday experience that is environmentally responsible.”

“We were recently awarded with the Green Tourism gold standard, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to being an eco-conscious park. Despite receiving this award, we are still conscious that there is more to do and will continue in this vein as we develop the park.”
