Chatsworth Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite

This mid week trip took us to Derbyshire and a visit to the Caravan and Motorhome Club site of Chatsworth Park.

About the Site

Set in the beautiful location of an old walled garden on the picturesque Chatsworth Estate, the Chatsworth Park Club Campsite offers a pleasant and convenient location for those visiting the stately home, Chatsworth House.

The Site is operated by the Caravan and Motorhome Club in Baslow, Bakewell, Derbyshire.

The site is accessed from the West from Manchester at junction 1 of the M60 taking the A6 and then the A623 and the A619 to Baslow. The entrance to the site is by private single track road, with passing places. There is no access through Chatsworth Estate as we found out having mistakenly placed our faith in the Sat Nav. Although it was a pleasant scenic little detour around the estate it did involve a U Turn in the end.

On arrival, having pulled into the reception centre waiting bay, we went and spoke with the member of staff on reception. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and after a few minutes of processing our payment and an explanation of the site we were on our way to our pitch. We were given a choice of pitches and asked to come back to reception and let them know which pitch we’d chosen once we had a chance to look around. We were also given a key to the gate in the wall which led to Narnia, well not really. It led to the expansive rolling grounds of the Chatsworth House estate which was equally as enchanting.

We chose a pitch that suited us and where we were able to put both motorhomes together. Once we’d parked up, plugged in and put the kettle on, we took a stroll to reception to let them know that we’d finally settled on our pitch.

Pitches

The pitches were hardstanding edged with grass and were a good size.  With plenty of trees and shrubs the site had a pleasant feel to it with subtle lighting to the paths during darkness. The pitches were sufficiently spaced and the hookup electricity bollard was easily accessible and well maintained. Water refill points were nearby too should you need them.

Facilities

The toilet and shower facility were very good and well maintained which is a theme for most Caravan and Motorhome Club sites. In addition there was a washing up area for dishes, recycling bins for waste, a chemical toilet emptying point. There was also a drive over motorhome point, which is always nice to have.

A drive over motorhome point makes emptying grey waste so much easier.

Also on site was a small play area for those bringing little ones with them.

Chatsworth House is a must visit whilst staying at this site.

Price

The cost for the pitch was £19.50 per night. This seemed to be really value for a site in a beautiful location.
