Volkswagen make Crafter-based Grand California more appealing to fans of off-grid campervanning
Volkswagen is adding an optional off-grid package to its two-model Grand California line-up and is also improving its driving assistance systems.
Volkswagen has announced that the Grand California is being updated to come with an optional off-grid package and improved driving assistance systems.
The best VW campervans are synonymous with stylish touring, a trend that the latest Grand California models look set to continue.
Available as both the Grand California 600 (see our review of the 2024 Grand California 600 to see what we thought) and the 680, the latest Crafter-based models will present customers with the option of upgrading the AGM battery for two LiFePO4 batteries or the Off-grid package, which will additionally add a permanent campervan solar panel system.

The exact solar panel will depend on whether you have the transverse bed 600 or the longitudinal beds 680, with the former having a 104W peak and the latter a 174W peak.
The enhanced assistance system will now feature driver monitoring for fatigue detection as standard, while Intersection Assist is now an optional extra. A new infotainment system with displays of up to 12 inches has also been added.
The interior comes with “Atami Bamboo”, while extra storage is now on offer, as is a table with more versatility.
