Westfalia is launching a new pop-top camper named after Rudyard Kipling for the 2026 season

Westfalia enters the 2026 season with a new pop-top camper, named, like so many of its models, for a famous figure – author Rudyard Kipling.

The Kipling follows on from the Kelsey in being based on a Ford Transit Custom, among the best vans for converting to a camper, with either 136bhp or 170bhp engines. It comes with the option of automatic transmission, and a long list of safety options. But unlike them, it has a roof that rises at the front.

It has a permanent transverse bed, measuring 1.9 x 1.3m; this opens up to store bikes. The 1.92 x 1.28m roof bed has mosquito-net canvas.

Whether you’re choosing between a campervan or a motorhome, the spec will be an important consideration. Here, it includes a 51-litre fridge, a two-burner gas hob, 50-litre fresh- and waste-water tanks, hot water for the shower and the sink and an optional cassette toilet. Prices for the Kipling, available from January next year, start at £60,900 OTR.

For 2026 the German firm has also made improvements to its Mercedes Sprinter-based Jules Verne model. This now comes with a wireless phone charger, a digital rear-view mirror, Airmatic suspension, heated steering wheel, an alarm, and a winter pack offering heated seats and more.

The Kelsey, which has been reduced in price to £60,900 OTR, now includes a tailgate you can open from the inside, an optional lithium battery, and a new metallic lunar grey colour option.

For fans of VW camper vans, the Westfalia Kepler One and Kepler Six models, based on the VW T6.1, will also be available as the limited edition Navy, boasting an automatic gearbox, exclusive upholstery and a pack that includes rear parking sensors and a touchscreen radio.

If you’d be interested in a pre-owned option from the manufacturer instead, see what Gentleman Jack had to say about a used Westfalia Club Joker and Westfalia Club Joker City, models which manage to be quite different despite sharing the same name moniker.
