Laika brings out rear lounge model for 2025

The 2025 season sees Laika celebrate its 60th anniversary with the launch of a rear lounge low-profile model that also includes drop-down single beds.

Rear lounges have proved to be one of the most popular motorhome layouts in the UK.

The design of the Kosmo L105 model, which is based on a Fiat Ducato and just 5.99m long, means that you still get a roof light in the rear lounge even with the two beds, as well as better headroom in the middle than you would get with a standard drop-down bed, despite being a small motorhome.

However, although the two beds are each 2m long, you can join them together to form a double by pulling out the slatted base in the middle.

The U-shaped settee can also be made into a second double by dropping the table down.

With the washroom and kitchen moved up to the front, the cab area of the motorhome also includes a drop-down desk behind the driver’s seat, so that, once the seat is swivelled, you have a little office or breakfast eating area. Extra daylight comes in here thanks to the sunroof.

The kitchen includes a 140-litre fridge, although an oven is only an option. The washroom has a swinging partition that reveals a shower – something that this season is also a feature on the Kosmo L319 and H1319.

The L105 has four travel seats, including two made out of the rear section of the large U-shaped settee in the lounge.

The double floor means there is even a small externally accessible storage area at the back.

Interior finishes match those in other models of what is Laika’s cheapest range – stone grey and forest green. Diesel heating is included for the motorhome heating system.

The Italian manufacturer is also bringing out two new models specially for the UK market with the habitation doors on the “right” side. The Kosmo L4.9 and L4.12 are mirrored versions of, respectively, the L409 and L412.

The Erwin Hymer Group subsidiary has also made some changes to its Ecovip range, including the Laika Ecovip 540 which Practical Motorhome recently reviewed. Interiors now feature matt white kitchen drawers, and locker doors, many of which are now push to open. The kitchen itself gets an update with a rack with hooks now fitted on the side, as well as a pull-out spout on the tap and a carbon filter on the extractor hood.

All Ecovip low-profiles and A-classes now come with a more ergonomic semi-circular table.

Other makes are also sharing their news for the 2025 season, with Etrusco offering improved campervans and budget low-profiles while Bürstner is bringing out a new range and a selection of special edition models.
