Hillside launches new Hopton range at the October NEC Show

Derby-based Hillside Leisure was enjoying plenty of footfall at its stand at the Motorhome and Caravan Show, with visitors keen to see the van converter’s latest models.

Hillside was exhibiting a new Ford, the relaunched Castleton, which features an elevating roof, RIB rear seat/bed system, kitchen and rear external shower. It comes on a Ford Custom.

The team was also launching the Hopton, a range of three new vehicles available on both VW Crafter and MAN vehicles, which both make it into our best van for converting into a camper round-up.

The three models are:

600RB: At just under 6m long on a medium wheelbase VW Crafter or MAN TGE, the RB features a large garage and transverse double bed. Opposite the well-equipped kitchen is a rear washroom with fixed cassette toilet and shower.

604RS: The RS has two single beds downstairs, four travelling seats, a rear kitchen and shower/toilet. There’s an option to have a pop top roof so you can sleep two upstairs in double and the rear kitchen can be fitted for induction or gas hob. It feels super luxurious in its leather finish.

603RS: This model comes with three travelling seats, a double bed downstairs and a pop top roof option. There’s a similar kitchen and a shower unit layout to the other models with a lounge area at the front which pulls out into bed.

With their large interiors, we can see the Hopton range being popular among campervan fans who are looking for a more spacious option and are keen cyclists.

Other converters are also displaying their latest models at the October show. This includes Autohaus which has both its new Camelot C600 and revamped Spartan ‘vans on its stand. Redline is also showcasing its new GT campervan, a model designed for use on both the Ford Transit Custom and VW T7.
