With the fluctuating costs of fuel, and the rising cost of living, we’re all trying to cut back where we can. But you’ll still want to go on motorhome tours, so how can you make them better than ever without spending too much cash?
Fortunately, Amazon’s Prime Day event – which runs from 23-26 June this year – is on hand to offer bargains galore, many of which are perfect for motorhome or campervan owners. There’s a lot to sift through, though, which is why – as editor of Practical Motorhome – I’ve narrowed down to five accessories that I think will elevate your next tour. Best of all, each one costs less than a tenner, leaving you more cash to spend on your adventures.

Folding Hooks was £7.65 now £6.49 (save 15%)
Storage space is at a premium in any motorhome, therefore it’s important to be able to make the most of whatever room you do have. That’s why I think these folding hooks are a great idea. Simply install the hooks via screws to a solid surface – perhaps the inside of your wardrobe or on the back of a washroom door – and they can be folded down when needed to allow you to hang towels, bags or whatever else you need to carry. They promise to hold up to 10kg in weight, and will automatically retract when not in use, keeping them neat, tidy and out of the way.
Locker cargo net was £9.99 now £8.07 (save 19%)
You should never carry heavy items in ceiling lockers, of course, but even lighter objects can fall out when you’re on the road, potentially causing damage. This cargo net should help – simply fit it on either side of the locker’s interior, tighten the elastic and items should be kept in position if the door accidentally opens. A good length of the elastic is included, so it should be suitable for various sizes of locker in your motorhome. Reviewers have commented that the net is both good quality and easy to install.
Toilet Refresher Spray was £5.99 now £5.09
It can be tricky to keep your motorhome’s washroom fresh-smelling, particularly during the heat of summer – which is where this product comes in. The Caravan King Toilet Refresher Spray has a zesty lemon fragrance and can be used to quickly and efficiently clean surfaces in and around your loo – the product is antibacterial and claims to be safe for use on plastics. It comes in a handy spray bottle that’s 500ml in size, so should be easy to store in a locker, ready for use when needed.
Spirit level was £5.99 now £4.49 (save 25%)
Yes, you can get smartphone apps that will help you level your motorhome, but sometimes you can’t beat the old-fashioned way of doing things – and I’d always recommend carrying a spirit level on tour. This bubble-levelling device costs just a few pounds and should prove handy every trip: simply pop it on any surface you’d like to be flat and the two-part indicator will give you an instant reading. It can be permanently mounted if you’d prefer, and it measures just 5.5cm x 4cm, so shouldn’t be too obtrusive when in place.
Microfibre beach towel was £11.99 now £9.68 (save 19%)
I’m a relatively new convert to microfibre towels, and I now wouldn’t go back to the regular version when I’m away on tour – microfibre towels take up so much less space than their regular equivalent, and they dry so much faster, too. I think these colourfully striped towels look great, and at 180 x 90cm they’re also a good size, whether you’re using them on the beach or in the motorhome. Five bright colours are available, and each towel comes with a handy bag for storage.
