Van converter Bilbo's has two prototype campervans on its stand at the NEC this week, including one which is designed as an every day 'van.

Popular van converter Bilbo’s had two new launches at the NEC Motorhome and Caravan Show show with two prototypes on display, the new Transporter prototype and the concept Kompak day van.

Those on the hunt for the best VW campervans could be interested in the Kompak. Coming on a VW T6.1 SWB day van, it is exhibited as a six-seater with a double cab seat. It has a removable kitchen pod with offside storage and incorporates Bilbo’s Komba bed/seat system, which allows for a two/three seater rear bench and a large double bed, which is super easy to assemble.

You simply pull out a lever at the front of the seats which allows you to pull down the backrest – et voilà! Standard spec includes a low-lie side-elevating roof with an optional roof bed. There’s no leisure battery, instead an Anker portable power pack is included.

The campervan for every day use concept allows more for occasional overnight stays while retaining more room internally (there is a small cupboard and no kitchen unit) for daytime use and in transit passengers.

Meanwhile, the new Transporter prototype on an eight-speed automatic VW Transporter Commerce Pro is a SWB Celex layout with the model at the show encompassing an all-new look interior, an optional continental front-elevating roof and graphite dust finish.

Take a look at what I made of another ‘van from the converter earlier this year, the Bilbo’s Celex HL.

Bilbo’s was joined in showcasing new campervans by Panama, which had its new P10E on display on the Marquis Leisure stand, a plug-in hybrid vehicle which is ULEZ compliant. The Rapido V62 was also making its NEC debut, a campervan which has impressed us for offering the interior you would expect to see in a low-profile.
