“We’ve continued to sell Autohaus products very well”: VW Kamper Centre reports demand for Autohaus campervans continues

Independent VW campervan producer Autohaus may no longer be with us, but demand for its final vehicles seems unfaltering.

The company went into administration at the start of this year, but one of its dealers – specialist campervan retailer the VW Kamper Centre – says sales have hardly been affected.

The converter had previously had its Autohaus GT Spartan named the best small campervan at the Practical Motorhome Awards 2025, with its interior and the efforts to make it more environmentally friendly both impressing our judging panel.

As Andy Spencer, from VW Kamper Centre on the Hampshire/Dorset border, points out: “Since the closure of Autohaus, we’ve continued to sell Autohaus products very well, and have also sold many pre-owned models. It could be price point and that the public are being more reserved in their spending habits, but who knows?”

The dealer is filling the gap by taking on the franchise for campervans from another campervan converter, Hillside Leisure.

Andy says: “Their build quality, type approval across all platforms and retail price capability, coupled with our award-winning sales and customer care package, should mean a rewarding partnership for all. We have taken delivery of six Hillside vehicles, including the new and very exciting Hopton range, and are in talks regarding the new T7 VW, where prices will range from about £64,000 to £75,000. These vehicles will come fully type approved, with a five-year chassis and conversion warranty.”
