Volkswagen has launched a new Multivan Camper base vehicle, which comes on the long wheelbase Multivan and is available as both a turbodiesel and an eHybrid.
Volkswagen are known for making some of the best vans for a camper conversion, including the Transporter and the Crafter. In the case of the new Multivan Camper, it will be available with two different engines, the 150PS TDI with DSG gearbox and the 240PS eHybrid DSG 4Motion.
Fans of the best VW campervans could be interested to hear that both models will include twin sliding doors and a tailgate, swivelling cab seats, and a pre-installed manual pop-up roof, but otherwise, Volkswagen has described the rear cabin as a “blank canvas”, without any rear seats or floor coverings, but still fully trimmed. Instead, professional converters will have 4,053 litres of capacity to work with, and an interior space measuring 2.63m by 1.67m x 1.31m (length x width x height).
Converters will also have the chance to upgrade the vehicle with a variety of options before it leaves the factory, including heated front seats, Climatronic 3 zone air conditioning, and a sat nav, while campervan alloy wheels can be fitted too.
Prices for the Multivan 150PS TDI DSH start from £52,680 (including VAT), while the 240PS eHybrid DSG 4Motion start from £60,870 (including VAT).
Another new release is from Panama, with the P50+ having completely removable rear seats to provide a large storage area. It will be joined by the P12+ on the Marquis Leisure stand at this week’s Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show.
