Swift stays away from NEC show

Swift the UK’s largest leisure vehicle manufacturer

Swift, the UK’s largest manufacturer of touring caravans, motorhomes and holiday homes has, in a shock move, pulled out of the NEC show for 2022.

The East Yorkshire company has been a familiar face at the exhibitions and has a turnover in excess of £270m as the popularity of it’s leisure vehicles has increased.

Attending shows has been a popular way for potential buyers and general caravanning and motorhome enthusiasts to browse, feel, touch and experience the latest leisure vehicles available from the top manufacturers proving extremely popular in previous pre-pandemic years. In fact 91,383 visitors attended the show in 2019 which was an increase of 1.4% on the previous year

Swift say the’ve identified a shift in the publics use of digital platforms and as a result of consumer behaviour have opted to cut back on attending shows in the forthcoming year.

in a statement, the company said, “The attitude in our market regarding digital has shifted and we believe is of significance. We acknowledge that industry shows, including the February NEC exhibition, have played their part in Swift’s success. However, in the light of the evolution in consumer behaviour, we have made a careful decision to reduce our presence at industry shows in the coming year.”

As for the future, it adds, “We recognise that there is a place for this type of event and as part of our future strategy we aim to accommodate those consumers for whom a visit to an industry exhibition forms an integral part in their buying journey and experience.”
