Free overnight stays authorised for motorhomes at two Calais car parks

Two wine superstores, which are conveniently situated for reaching the port of Calais and the Eurotunnel, will now be providing motorhome owners with authorised overnight stopover points in their car parks.

Both Calais Vins and Olivier Vins are located just off the A16 motorway, making them well-placed for those who have been touring Europe in a campervan or motorhome and are now heading back to the UK, whether they are getting the Eurotunnel or ferry.

The stopover will provide free parking, while there will be a fresh water point situated at the two stores. Motorhomers will also be able to shop in the two stores (which are open 9am to 7pm or 10am to 6pm on Sundays and French bank holidays), and there is an adjacent bakery for those who want a bite to eat.

The authorised car park has been added for motorhomers who need an overnight stay in Calais prior to catching an early morning departure, and could be a convenient endpoint after a stay at one of the best campervan sites in France or further afield.

The car parks allow ‘van owners to choose from the more urban Calais Vins, which is found in the centre of Calais, or Olivier Vins, which is situated on the outskirts of Calais and provides a quieter getaway in Fréthun.

In other overnight stopover news, it was recently announced that 11 car parks in Snowdonia have had overnight restrictions introduced to cut down on unauthorised overnight stays. The National Park’s Authority said it had added them at the locations which had been feeling the effects of these stays the most.
